How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your goals. Post-surgery clients may benefit from 2–3 sessions a week initially, while wellness clients may opt for regular monthly sessions. If you are preparing for an event, we can tailor a schedule to fit your needs. Is it painful?

No, MLD should never be painful. It uses light, rhythmic movements that are relaxing and soothing to the body.

Is it the same as a regular massage?

No. MLD is a specialized technique that works on the lymphatic system, not the muscles. It’s much lighter in pressure and designed for different goals than a typical Swedish or deep tissue massage. There are a few area, such as the abdomen, where the lymph nodes are located deeper which requires more pressure. We also offer “sculpting”, cellulite, and scar tissue techniques that are optional, not mandatory and the service is tailored specifically to your needs.

What shoulder I expect during the session?

You’ll lie comfortably on a massage table while the therapist uses precise, gentle hand movements to stimulate your lymphatic system. You may feel deeply relaxed or sleepy during the session.

How should I prepare?

Drink plenty of water before and after your session. Avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and caffeine beforehand for best results. Full instructions will be sent upon booking.

What should I do after my session?

Continue to hydrate, rest if needed, and follow any personalized aftercare instructions your therapist provides.

Can I receive lymphatic drainage after surgery?

Yes! MLD is commonly used after cosmetic and orthopedic surgeries to reduce swelling, minimize scar tissue, and speed up recovery. Always consult with your surgeon first.

Do I need a referral?

Not always. For general wellness, you can book without a referral. However, we do except NYSHIP which requires a script.

Can the massage help with bloating or digestive issues?

Yes, abdominal lymphatic drainage may help stimulate movement in the digestive system and reduce water retention.
